Development and Mining of a Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) Database
BME has organized its first seminar on “Development and Mining of a Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) Database” which was delivered by Dr. Md. Altaf-Ul-Amin, Associate Professor Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST), Japan.
In this talk he has described the KNApSAcK Metabolite Ecology Database that was developed by his group. This database contains the information on the relationships between VOCs and their emitting organisms. He has also found that VOC based classification of microorganisms is consistent with their classification based on pathogenicity, and VOCs of similar chemical structure have similar biological activities.
