The Outcome Based Education Cell (OBE Cell) of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, BUET, successfully hosted a seminar on ” Biomedical Engineering Innovation and Design for a Sustainable Healthcare System in Bangladesh” . The event, held on March 5th, 2024, was a resounding success, bringing together esteemed speakers, passionate attendees, and thought-provoking discussions aimed at shaping the future of healthcare in Bangladesh. Professor Dr. Md. Shafiqul Alam Chowdhury, the principal of Dhaka Medical College, graced the event as the Chief Guest. Other distinguished guests include the Head of the Medicine Dept., Popular Medical College Hospital, Professor Dr. Quazi Tarikul Islam, Deputy Director (CDC), Dr. Md. Shafiqul Islam, and Head of the BME Dept., BUET, Prof. Dr. M Tarik Arafat. The SAC Chair of BME BUET, Dr. Taufiq Hasan presented the keynote speech of the seminar.
During the seminar, all the speakers emphasized on the pivotal role of innovations in biomedical engineering in enhancing healthcare accessibility and quality in Bangladesh. They also stressed the importance of collaboration between academia, healthcare institutions, and industry for driving sustainable advancements in this field.
In his concluding remarks, Prof. Dr. Abdul Jabbar Khan highlighted the culture of homegrown innovation at BUET. He also extended a warm welcome to the doctor community, urging them to commit to fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration in the field of biomedical engineering.
