MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD

It is my pleasure to greet you as the head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) of BUET. BME, BUET has started its journey in January 2016 with 30 undergraduate students. Now, we are taking 50 undergraduate and 40 post-graduate students every year. We aspire to build this department with a focus on design, development and research, aiming at solving longstanding health-related problems in our country, as well as train students to become leaders in this new and fascinating field of study.

Keeping SDG goals in minds, and to prepare our students to lead the 4IR revolution, we are working on diverse areas.

Keeping SDG goals in minds, and to prepare our students to lead the 4IR revolution, we are working on diverse areas. We have 15 state-of-the-art laboratories. Our research and educational activities are ranging from biomaterials to controlled drug delivery, bioinstrumentations to medical robotics, tissue engineering to artificial organ regeneration, digital health to computer aided drug development, biomedical data science to medical imaging, biomechanics to rehabilitation engineering and so on.

We are industry focused. Also, we are very much open to collaboration and new ideas.

I welcome you to Biomedical Engineering department, where we work on solutions to healthcare challenges, where we imagine and inspire the next generation of biomedical engineers.
