BUET BME’s Team ‘Cardicare’ won the Bangabandhu Innovation Grant (BIG) grant

Congratulations to Tonmoy Chandro Saha, Shawkat Osman Shishir, and Maksudul Haque Rafi, our outstanding students, for their remarkable achievement! Their start-up venture, Cardicare, emerged as the winner of the prestigious Bangabandhu Innovation Grant (BIG).

Their journey began during their 3rd year capstone project when they developed a remarkable Low Cost Automatic External Defibrillator prototype. Recognizing the immense potential of their innovation, they applied for pre-seed funding through the BIG program and were awarded a grant of 10 lakh taka. This accomplishment is even more remarkable considering that they were selected among the top 52 teams out of nearly 7000 participants.

The Bangabandhu Innovation Grant (BIG) is Bangladesh’s largest start-up competition, specifically designed to boost start-ups at the pre-seed stage. Initiated in 2019 by the ICT Division as part of the Mujib Centenary celebrations, this competition aims to support and nurture the entrepreneurial spirit of young minds, ultimately contributing to the growth of the country’s economy.

Throughout their journey, Tonmoy Chandro Saha, Shawkat Osman Shishir, and Maksudul Haque Rafi received invaluable guidance and mentorship from our esteemed faculty advisor Nusrat Binta Nizam, Kawsar Ahmed, Dr. Taufiq Hasan, and our esteemed alumnus Kaiser Alman. Their expertise and support played a pivotal role in the success of Cardicare.

The Department of Biomedical Engineering wholeheartedly congratulates these talented individuals on their well-deserved accomplishment and wishes them continued success in all their future endeavors.
