MoU signed between BUET and DMC for Collaborative Education and Research in Engineering & Medicine

On the 28th of September, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and Dhaka Medical College (DMC). The MoU signing ceremony took place at the Vice Chancellor’s office of BUET between the head of the two institutes, Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam (Vice Chancellor, BUET) and Professor Md. Ismail Khan (Principal, DMC). Also present during the event, from DMC: Dr. Md. Shafiqul Alam Choudhury (Vice-Principal, DMC), Prof. Dr. Shamim Ara (Head, Anatomy), Prof. Dr. Kazi Shamima Akter (Head, Physiology), Prof. Dr. Nasima Sultana (Head, Biochemistry), and from the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME), BUET: Prof. Dr. Md. Kamrul Hasan (Head, BME), Dr. Muhammad Tarik Arafat (Assistant professor, BME) and Dr. Taufiq Hasan (Assistant professor, BME).

This MoU signing marksGroup photo a historical event as the two leading educational institutes of the country specialized in engineering and medicine comes to a collaborative agreement to engage in joint interdisciplinary education and research. The initiative for this MoU has been driven primarily by the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME), the youngest department of BUET. BME envisions to build a world-class academic program and also aims to address the longstanding problems of the health-care sector of Bangladesh.
