Freshers’ Orientation Program of BME 2025 Batch

The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME), BUET, organized the Freshers’ Orientation Program for the BME’25 Batch on 23 June 2026, welcoming the newly admitted students to the department and introducing them to the academic journey ahead.
The program was hosted by Chaity Chakraborty, Lecturer, Department of Biomedical Engineering, BUET. The event provided the freshers with an overview of the department, academic life, Outcome-Based Education (OBE), and the opportunities available throughout their undergraduate studies.
The program featured a departmental overview and welcome address by Professor Dr. Muhammad Tarik Arafat. An informative session on Life at BME, Rules and Regulations was conducted by Dr. Jahid Ferdous, Associate Professor, while Professor Dr. Taufiq Hasan, Head of the Department, shared valuable guidance and words of encouragement with the incoming students.
An insightful session on Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and accreditation was delivered by Samiul Based Shuvo, Assistant Professor, Department of Biomedical Engineering, BUET, highlighting the importance of learning outcomes and continuous improvement in higher education.
The orientation program also included an alumni interaction session featuring Ahana Jyoti Ahmed (BME ’19), who shared her experiences and perspectives with the freshers. Student representatives, Md. Al Maruf Rataul (BME ’21) welcomed the freshers on behalf of the senior students. Representing the new batch, Sumaiya Ahmed Afra (BME ’25) greeted her peers and teachers while sharing her thoughts on this new journey.
The event concluded with best wishes for the BME ’25 Batch as they embark on their undergraduate journey. The Department looks forward to supporting and witnessing the growth and achievements of its newest members in the years ahead.
